New Year’s Celebration at Mother Sri Lanka
Mother Sri Lanka kicked off the New Year with a meaningful and festive celebration at its showroom on January 1st, 2025. The event was a warm and vibrant occasion that brought together the Mother Lanka Foundation’s dedicated board members and staff for a collective moment of reflection and celebration.
One of the central features of the gathering was a “potluck-style” spread of traditional Sri Lankan sweet meats, with each team member contributing their favorite treats. From Kiribath, kokis and kavum to halwa, milk toffee, and mung kavum, the table was filled with a delightful array of traditional sweets that reflected the rich cultural heritage and strong sense of community within the team. It was a reminder of how deeply rooted these traditions are in our lives, and how they bring us together, strengthening bonds and creating new memories as we usher in the New Year.
As the sweet treats were shared and enjoyed, the conversation turned to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in 2025. The discussion centered on the role that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will continue to play in shaping Sri Lanka’s economy. The team focused on how the coming year would provide ample opportunities to support one another and strengthen the ecosystem for local businesses. The shared commitment to collaboration and growth was evident in the conversations, highlighting the importance of working together to navigate the evolving business landscape.
The presence of the EXCO members Prof Ananda Jayawardena, Mr. Thushantha Karunanayake, Mr. Piyadasa Marambage, Mr. Neil Hassan, Ms. Chandrika Kuruppu, Ms. Kumari Jayawardena and Ms. Nazreen Nawoorden added a special touch to the occasion, as they took the time to wish everyone well for the year ahead. Their remarks underscored the collective optimism for 2025, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and mutual support, particularly for SMEs. They expressed their belief that the coming year was full of potential and urged everyone to continue working together towards a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
The gathering was more than just a celebration; it was a reaffirmation of the team’s shared commitment to their values and mission. It was a moment to reflect on the traditions that unite us, while also looking ahead to the exciting opportunities of 2025. As the day concluded, everyone left with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism for the year ahead, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that would shape the future of both the Mother Lanka Foundation and the broader business community in Sri Lanka.
The New Year’s celebration at Mother Sri Lanka not only marked the beginning of a new chapter but also served as a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from unity, tradition, and a shared vision for progress.
